Preliminary hearing rescheduled for Logan man in forcible sodomy case

LOGAN — A preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for a 21-year-old Logan man accused of forcible sodomy.

Dakota Q. Knight appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning. His defense attorney told the court, they had been unable to work out a resolution with state prosecutors.

The alleged assault was committed in October 2014. The defendant and victim were reportedly acquaintances at the time.

In February, Knight waived his right to a preliminary hearing under the condition that attorneys for both sides could negotiate a plea deal.

Knight was ordered to appear again in court March 28 when prosecutors will present their evidence in the case. A judge will then determine if there is sufficient evidence to bind him over to face the charge.
