4 snowmobilers survive being buried by avalanche near White Pine Lake

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Four people are alive after being caught in an avalanche while snowmobiling in Cache County.

The Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/1pXnhE0 ) that four of five snowmobilers were caught in the avalanche Friday near White Pine Lake. Two riders were wearing air bag devices that kept them from being fully buried, one rider was partially buried and sustained a minor injury and a fourth rider was completely buried.

The fifth rider who was not caught in the slide saw where the fully submerged rider was buried and was able to dig them out.

According to the Utah Avalanche Center’s advisories, there is moderate avalanche danger in both the Ogden area mountains and Logan area mountains as of Sunday.
