Local GOP leader: how can I really vote for Trump?

Wednesday was a sad day for Cache County Republican Vice Chair Gina Worthen now that Texas Senator Ted Cruz has ended his run for the presidency. Cruz announced he is suspending his campaign Tuesday after losing the GOP primary in Indiana, making it almost impossible to wrestle the party nomination away from front-runner Donald Trump.

Worthen says she had admired Cruz for a long time and now she is left with the dilemma of who to vote for.

“So how can I really vote for Trump?” Worthen asks. “Before, if it’s been a candidate who I disagree with on policy that’s one thing. I’m willing to support them because they are the Republican.

“The problem I have with Trump is that it goes far beyond that. He has made fun of handicapped people, he has been so demeaning towards women, he was so rude to Megyn Kelly and the things he said to Carly Fiorina during the debate. Just different things like that.”

Worthen says, worst of all, Trump announced publicly that Senator Cruz’s father was a party to the murder of former President John Kennedy.
