Two Democrats are vying to be the one who challenges Republican Mike Lee for the U.S. Senate seat up for election this fall. Lee is seeking his second six-year term.
Cache County Democratic Party Chairman Vince Wickwar says local residents will have a chance to meet both of the Democratic candidates on Saturday in Logan.
“There will be a debate between the senatorial prospective candidates, Misty Snow and Jonathan Swinton,” Wickwar explains. “It will be in the Historic Courthouse in the (Cache) County Council chambers. It will be at 6 p.m. and go for 90 minutes.”
Wickwar says Jonathan Swinton is a marriage and family therapist from Sandy. Swinton has said that Mike Lee has shown time and again that the is more willing to shut down the government than to collaborate or reach solutions.
Misty Snow says this is the first time she has run for an office and she is doing so because the government does not do enough to help its people.
Wickwar says everyone is invited to attend and participate by asking questions of both candidates. They will square off against each other in the June 28 primary election.
