After a 4,000 mile cycling tour of United States’ small business entrepreneurs, Utah State University Professor Michael Glauser has authored the book “Main Street Entrepreneur-Build Your Dream Company Doing What You Love Where You Live”.
On KVNU’s For the People program on Wednesday, Professor Glauser said he will be at an Alumni Event to celebrate the publication Thursday at 4 p.m. in the new business building, Huntsman Hall, on the top floor in the Perry Pavilion.
“And it’s for everyone from the community, everyone’s welcome. There will be free Aggie Ice Cream and I’ll be talking about the book and what we learned about the future of work in America and how to deal with that. Then, if you’re a USU alumni, you actually get a free copy of the book if you come,” according to Glauser.
Professor Glauser is the executive director of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business – Jeffery D. Clark Center for Entrepreneurship. He said the big takeaway from the book is that the vast majority of Americans will work for smaller companies yet it’s big companies like Facebook, eBay and Apple that get all the press.
Glauser explained, “When we talk about those companies we’re talking about an anomaly that just isn’t going to occur for most people in the world and for most of our students. And so we wanted to go out and find the common everyday man and woman in America that’s creating a fabulous little company and earning a great living and loving what they’re doing.
“We wanted to start shining a spotlight on them and providing great role models and providing key skills people would need to be able to do that themselves.”
The book is also available on Amazon and from other book sellers.
