John Chadwick said about 15 years ago he had the opportunity to do some backcountry skiing with an Olympic ski coach from Argentina on private property owned by Chadwick and his family. After skiing for a while, the coach told him he needed to build a ski resort there.
Unbeknownst to him, Chadwick had been thinking the same thing since the 2nd grade from about the time his family had purchased the acreage near Richmond.
Now Cherry Peak Resort has enjoyed their first full season of winter skiing but things are humming right along this summer with the kick-off of a summer concert season. Chadwick was a guest on KVNU’s For the People program on Thursday and told host Jason Williams what’s planned for the weeks and months ahead.
“To me the skiing is fantastic, but the summer season, I mean waterslide, mountain biking, we’re getting ready to launch those shortly. But the concerts, holy cow…every two weeks a great concert all summer long clear to the end of September. So we’re super excited,” said Chadwick.
The first concert is Friday night, June 10th, with magician and comedian Brad Bonar and popular, local a capella group Voice Male. Two weeks later it’s Utah-born Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband. Then on July 9th Nashville country artist Kelly Pickler will perform.
More concerts are still in the works. For tickets and more information on the resort go to www.skicherrypeak.us.
