Elephants coming back to Cache County Fair

The theme for the 2016 Cache County Fair and Rodeo is “Cache In On the Fun at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo.” County Clerk Jill Zollinger, who is also the fair manager, says the days of the fair are August 11, 12 and 13.

Zollinger says many people have asked if the elephants are coming back and she is pleased to say the answer is “yes!”

“They’re coming back because they were a big hit last year,” Zollinger exclaims. “Lots of people loved them. The nice thing about it is they not only get to see and touch these elephants, but they get to ride them.”

Having elephants at last year’s fair was controversial to some, but Zollinger says the elephants are not there for only a side show, but there is also an educational aspect of it.

“They also give an educational show about them,” she says, “talking about different aspects of the elephants, what they like, what they don’t like, all about them.”

Zollinger says pre-sale carnival tickets are available in her office at reduced prices, at $20 for an all-day pass. But she says they are only available until they are sold out which always happens. She says Browns Amusement will have a new ride this year and they are calling it “The Freak Out.”
