Most Utah Democrats are hoping Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump will not be elected in November. In the March Caucus meetings, however, Utah Democrats strongly favored Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton, who is now the official Democrat Party’s nominee.
Cache County Democratic Party Chairman Vince Wickwar says a lot of people are now worried the Sanders supporters will not vote for Hillary Clinton, and may just decide not to vote at all.
“It’s certainly a common concern,” Wickwar says. “But Hillary’s speech had a number of things to try to bring them over. It appears that Bernie’s speech, and some of the interviews he has had since then, that he is certainly trying to bring his people along to back her.”
Wickwar says in both the Utah and the Cache County caucuses Bernie got 80 percent of the vote. But Wickwar said Clinton did a good job of embracing Bernie and his fans in her Thursday night speech at the Democratic National Convention.
