The Cache Valley Veterans Association will be the benefactors at the third annual Patriotic Golf Tournament hosted by the Cache Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President and CEO Sandy Emile says each year the chamber honors the lives lost on September 11, 2001 by sponsoring a fundraising tournament.

A representative of the Veterans Association, who wishes to remain anonymous, says the money will be put to good use.

“The goal is, since we are a rural community, is to recognize the benefits and services available to veterans,” he explains, “helping them apply for mental health, physical health services, utilizing the Veterans Choice, learning some more information about education benefits, taking care of their families, life skills, transitioning. There are a lot of things that are missing up here in Northern Utah.”

Emile says the goal is to raise $5,000 for the association. She is hoping for a good participation for the event which includes not only a round of golf but a great lunch as well.

For more information, call the chamber at 752-2161. The flag raising ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m. will be performed by the Veterans Association.
