Local Democrat opposes Trump’s immigration policies

Donald Trump says if elected president of the United States he will implement a strict, extreme screening process for people who wish to immigrate to this country, including an ideological screening test.

Danny Beus, director of the Cache County Democratic Party’s Latino Council, has one word for Trump’s proposed policy and it’s “bogus.”

He says the Republican candidate has spent his entire campaign using immigrants as scapegoats, attacking their religious beliefs and belittling their contributions and commitment to this country.

“The immigrants in Cache Valley that are here legally and illegally are great people,” Beus says. “They are the type of people that are willing to give you the shirt off their back. He tries to tell people that they’re evil, that they’re taking jobs, that they’re causing crime and they’re not.”

Beus says Trump has created a culture that targets immigrants and creates a culture of fear.
