No serious injuries after school bus accident

LOGAN — No one was seriously injured after a school bus, carrying elementary aged children, was involved in an accident near the Cache County Fairgrounds, Wednesday afternoon.

Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said the bus was southbound on 300 West when a white Chevrolet failed to stay in its lane, where the road turns, and struck the bus head-on.

The accident caused a small fire, which the driver of the bus was able to extinguish before police and emergency crews arrived.

Budge said the bus was carrying 36 kindergartners and first-graders from Hillcrest Elementary School. All of them were safely escorted off the bus by nearby residents who witnessed the accident.

Investigators believe the 16-year-old female driver of the car caused the accident. She was cited for failing to have a license and leaving her lane of travel. An investigation is continuing.
