Cache Arts Presents opens its 2016-17 national touring season at the Ellen Eccles Theatre with the production of MOMIX: Opus Cactus on Tuesday, October 11 starting at 7:30 p.m.
Marketing Director Jenn Waterhouse says the group, which is coming to Cache Valley for the first time, calls itself dancer illusionists.
“They’re going to be coming in using modern dance, acrobatic props,” says Waterhouse, “these incredible, whimsical, kind of out-of-this world costumes to show us a little different view of the desert like we’ve never seen it before.
“Of course in Utah we have some incredible red rock desert, and their entire piece, Opus Cactus, really celebrates all southwestern desert. They have everything from aerial arts. There is a piece where all of their dancers are suspended, they do an incredible piece that celebrates moths. They have fire dancers.”
Waterhouse says the multi-media spectacular has something for all ages.
Waterhouse says Cache Arts is partnering with two local groups – Stakes Nature Center and Valley Dance Ensemble – with a special Dance in Nature workshop which includes two dance classes. Learn more about it and get ticket information at (435) 752-0026 or online at www.cachearts.org.
