Prosecutor: Ex-USU player accused of rape waives extradition

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say an ex-Utah State football player dropped by the Atlanta Falcons over multiple sexual assault allegations won’t fight an order sending him back to Utah to face criminal charges.

Cache County Attorney James Swink said Friday that 22-year-old Torrey Green has waived extradition from California and is expected in Utah within about two weeks.

Swink says his office filed charges in five cases Thursday after alleged victims went public with their stories this summer. He says prosecutors had previously reviewed two cases without filing charges because the evidence was lacking.

Swink says more women came forward following the published reports. The charges range from 2013 to 2016 while Green was at USU.

No lawyer was listed for Green Friday and his spokesman Zack Teperman declined to comment.
