Federal fugitive sentenced after signing extradition paperwork

LOGAN — A federal fugitive wanted for sexually assaulting a teenager and arrested in Cache County has been sentenced to jail, and will now wait for authorities to transfer him back to Kansas.

Allen E. Lemley appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning for sentencing after earlier pleading guilty to forgery and giving false information about his identity, both class A misdemeanors.

Lemley spoke only briefly, telling the court he had talked with his public defender about being turned over to Kansas authorities. He said he also understood that he was giving up his rights, as he signed the request to be extradited back to Ellsworth County, where he reportedly fled in 2015.

Judge Kevin Allen sentenced Lemley to jail, giving him credit for the 18-days he had already served. He signed the extradition order also, transferring jurisdiction of the defendant to Kansas authorities when they come to retrieve him from the Cache County Jail.

Lemley was arrested September 24, after a deputy patrolling Black Smith Fork Canyon became suspicious and ran a background check on an RV’s license plate. It came back showing that it was owned by Lemley, who was wanted by U.S. Marshals after fleeing authorities in Ellsworth County, Kansas. When deputies questioned him, he provided them a false ID and forged documents. He had also attempted to change his appearance by coloring his hair black and losing about 60 lbs.
