Police looking for man who tried to rob truck driver with a knife

LOGAN — Police are continuing to look for a suspect that allegedly tried to rob a truck driver outside a truck stop Friday night.

Logan City Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said officers received a call from the truck driver around 10:30 p.m. He claimed a man tried to take his money and threatened him with a knife, before fleeing. The victim claimed that as he was walking through the truck stop parking lot, near 200 North 1000 West, he saw a man standing near his truck. The suspect had a blank stare and asked for money.

When the truck driver refused, the suspect pulled a knife and threatened the man.

Hooley said, when the suspect lunged forward, the truck driver punched the man in the face. The man then fled on foot, running south.

Officers used a K-9 but were never able to locate the suspect. He is described as being around 6 ft. tall, slender build and weighing about 125 lbs.
