Friday is Veterans Day, the nation takes time to honor its military veterans. Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Gary Griffin, who is now a member of the American Legion’s Post 12 at Utah State University, says it is important to honor those who served their country.
“Veterans Day is an important day for the nation to pause and remember those who have served their country, in the time of war and peace in the military,” says Griffin. “And to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect this great country of ours.”
Griffin says veterans have more respect now than they did before the Vietnam War and they very well should.
Lt. Colonel Griffin was with the U.S. Air Force for 24 years and was a Titan 2 ICBM launch control officer, sitting in a missile silo for four years during the Cold War. He was then an intelligence officer for the next 20 years.
