LOGAN — Prosecutors have filed more sexual assault charges against former Utah State football player Torrey Green. The two additional counts of rape brings the total number of cases to seven, filed against the 22-year-old.
In a press release, Cache County Attorney James Swink said earlier this year eight original cases were screened. On October 6, five cases were filed on and three were dropped.
Swink explained further that six new complaints were received after those charges were filed and Green was arrested. Of those, two cases were filed Friday, two are still under investigation, and two have been dropped.
The cases that were declined to be filed were due to insufficient evidence or the individuals decession not to prosecute. Swink said his office is committed to protecting victims of sexual assault and assisting them through the healing process.
Green was arrested in California after prosecutors filed the first five cases against him. He was later extradited back to the Cache County Jail, where he is currently being held. First District Court Judge Brian Cannell has set a hearing date for December 13 to discuss releasing him on bail.
The alleged assaults all took place between November 2013 and January 2016 in Logan and North Logan.
