LOGAN — Search and Rescue crews were called to Providence Canyon Sunday afternoon, when a 19-year-old man called 911 for help after getting lost while hiking.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke said the teenager, who was not from the area and by himself, called dispatch operators on a cell phone after he became disoriented. They were able to talk to the man while crews were mobilized to the area.

He was located around 8:00 p.m., three hours after the search started.

Locke said the man was cold and fatigued. Crews we’re going to fly him out by helicopter but couldn’t because of heavy winds, blowing at the time. Instead, they transported him by snow mobile to a nearby Snow Cat, where he was taken off of the mountain.
