Bike with Brent event will be honored at chamber of commerce banquet

The Cache Chamber of Commerce refers to it as their most important night of the year. Their annual awards banquet is coming up on January 10th and it will be held at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan with dinner starting at 6 p.m.

The chamber’s president and CEO, Sandy Emile, says several awards will be presented and one of the categories is an award for the Event of the Year. Emile says this year the award goes to Bike with Brent, a bicycling event hosted each year by the Cache Employment and Training Center.

“Everybody knows (Brent Carpenter) on his bike, with his little horn, with his flags on his bike and his wave that greets everyone, whether he knows you or doesn’t know you,” Emile explains. “There are no judgement calls. Brent is a citizen of all our municipalities in Cache County.

“Everybody knows him and loves him. The event Biking with Brent is a parade event for a non-profit and we are very delighted to give some visibility.”

Among the other awards to be presented that evening will be for Outstanding Citizen, Women in Business, Family-Owned Business and Business Expansion Project.

Emile says the keynote speaker will be Dr. Noelle Cockett, incoming president of Utah State University. You can call the chamber office for reservations at 752-2161.
