Cache County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating, after the remains of a body were found inside a burned out car.
Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said deputies were called to the scene of a suspicious vehicle near Petersboro, Sunday afternoon. It appeared to be destroyed by fire. Inside, they found a badly burned body.
Investigators have yet to determine the victim’s identity or cause of death.
The vehicle appeared to have been burned within the last several days. It was found on private property.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office and the State Fire Marshall’s Office were called in to assist deputies, in their investigation.
Peterson said there are many questions yet to be answered. Detectives are expected to be working through the night to identify the victim, determine the exact cause and the circumstances surrounding the case.
