Two men rob Subway restaurant in Hyrum

Deputies are looking for two men believed to have robbed a Subway restaurant, Monday morning in Hyrum.

Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen said one of the men, a Hispanic adult male, walked into restaurant around 8:00 a.m. and threatened employees.

“He threatened to ‘shoot the place up’ if they didn’t give him money,” said Jensen. “The employees of Subway followed his orders and gave him some cash and then he left.”

The employees said the suspect never brandished a weapon and only made the verbal threat.

The suspect and another black male, who was near the door of the restaurant, were seen running from the scene southwest.

“Our two suspects are an adult Hispanic male, wearing a backpack, and an adult black male, wearing gray sweat pants.”

The Hispanic suspect reportedly was also wearing a black jacket and charcoal colored sweats. The African American suspect was seen wearing a navy blue beanie hat. They separated and were seen running into the nearby neighborhood.

Jensen said deputies set up a perimeter around the area and placed nearby schools on lock down as a precaution.

K-9 units were brought to the area. Items of clothing and a backpack were found during the search.

Anyone with information about the two men are asked to call deputies at 435-755-1100.
