UPDATE: Deputies arrest two people suspected in Subway restaurant robbery

LOGAN — Deputies have arrested one man and a juvenile suspected of robbing the Subway restaurant, Monday morning in Hyrum.

Levi Peiffer was booked into the Cache County Jail Monday night on suspicion of aggravated robbery and failing to stop at the command of law enforcement. The 19-year-old is being held on $30,000 bail. The 17-year-old teenager was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on similar offences.

Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen said investigators detained and questioned the two suspects, after employees at the Subway reported a Hispanic male walked into the restaurant around 8:15 a.m. and threatened them.

“He threatened to ‘shoot the place up’ if they didn’t give him money,” said Jensen. “The employees of Subway followed his orders and gave him some cash and then he left.”

The employees said the suspect never brandished a weapon but made verbal threats and had a bulge in his jacket. He reportedly made off with $150.

The suspect and a African American male, who was near the door of the restaurant, were seen by Hyrum City employees running from the scene southwest.

Jensen said multiple agencies including K-9 teams responded to the area. They tracked the suspects back to an apartment complex. Talking to residents in the area, deputies were able to find an apartment that housed two individuals matching the description of the robbery suspects.

A search warrant was obtained and SWAT took three individuals safely into custody for questioning. After interviews and recovering evidence from the apartment, two arrests were made.

Deputies do not believe there are any further suspects.

Jensen said, “We would like to thank the employees at Hyrum City who saw something suspicious, followed, and phoned it in. Also we’d like to thank several other citizens who witnessed this incident and offered information to law enforcement. Without citizen involvement in cases such as this, it may not have been cleared. We would also like to thank all the other law enforcement agencies who spent the day assisting with our investigation.”
