Schools in Cache Valley and throughout the state of Utah are benefiting from a relationship between the College Football Playoff and the Mountain West Conference. The College Football Playoff Foundation and the Mountain West have teamed together to fund over 200 DonorsChoose.org educational projects in elementary and secondary schools across the conference’s geographical footprint.

The donation is in coordination with the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers program and will benefit over 18,000 students and nearly 200 teachers in eight different states. Thirteen teachers in Utah benefited from the relationship, and all but four of them were in Cache Valley.

Projects ranging from literacy and language to math and science and more all received full funding. In total, 211 projects across 160 schools were sponsored.

“The Mountain West, along with our member institutions and the College Football Playoff Foundation, are privileged to fund classroom projects through the Extra Yard for Teachers program and DonorsChoose.org,” said Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson in a press release. “We are excited to see how the teachers will use these resources to make a positive impact in the lives of students throughout the Mountain West region.”

“After an exciting end to the football season, it’s even more thrilling to see the Mountain West and College Football Playoff Foundation support the needs of thousands of students and teachers,” said Kirk Smiley, Head of Sports Practice at DonorsChoose.org. “These classroom projects will provide greater educational opportunities for students in Mountain West communities for years to come.”

The following is a list of teachers and schools in Utah that are benefiting from the partnership because of Utah State University. Click on each teacher’s name to see their projects on DonorsChoose.org.

CFP licensed products have generated more than $7.5 million in direct support of the CFP Foundation and its programming nationally. Visit www.cfp-foundation.org to learn more about the CFP Foundation and Extra Yard for Teachers.

“Connecting college football and teachers is what Extra Yard for Teachers strives to do,” said Britton Banowsky, CFP Foundation Executive Director. “We are elated that this partnership will make a difference in the educational communities surrounding Mountain West universities.”
