It was his number one goal when he first became the Cache County Executive: a water conservancy district. Now it looks like that goal is about to be fulfilled for Craig Buttars after a vote by the council Tuesday.
The council voted unanimously to approve the appointment of 11 people as members of the district’s board of directors. The new board members wee interviewed by an implementation committee made up mostly of members of the Bridgerland Water Work Group who were instrumental in developing the bylaws for the new district.
Buttars says they area ll well-qualified elected officials.
“I’d like to express once again my appreciation to these individuals,” said Buttars at Tuesday’s Cache County Council meeting. “We will be sending out a poll as to when we can plan on meeting with them.
“I would assume we would be meeting with them in the next two weeks to initiate the first meetings of the water district board.”
The members of the district’s board of trustees are Jeannie Simmonds (Logan #1 Council District), Barbara Tidwell (Logan #2 Council District), Herm Olsen (Logan #3 Council District), Max Pierce (North Council District), Bret Randall (Northeast Council District), Jon Hardman (South Council District), Shaun Dustin (Southeast Council District), Jon White (at-large position), Jared Clawson (at-large position), David Erickson (at-large position), Don Baldwin (Agriculture representative).
Buttars said he plans to remain actively involved in the initiation of the Cache Water District.
