Children’s Justice Center provides update to Cache County Council

The Chidren’s Justice Center is located in Logan but it is a great help to children in all of Cache, Rich and Box Elder counties. Executive Director Joan Liquin told the Cache County Council at its Tuesday meeting that the center was formed by the Utah Attorney General and is under the direction of the Cache County Attorney.

“We have monthly case staffings,” Liquin explained. “We have DCFS; they are child protection service workers and they work in conjunction with detectives on investigating cases.

“We provide interview equipment and the children can come there, it’s very private. They don’t have to worry about who is going to walk in and see them. We also provide medical care on site.”

Liquin said approximately 239 child interviews and 86 medical exams were conducted at the center last year. She says the number of cases has not varied much over the past few years.
