LOGAN — Football players won’t be the only ones playing defense this weekend, as local law enforcement boost their patrols, looking to tackle drunk drivers.
Cache County Sheriff’s deputies are increasing their patrols through Monday morning, helping keep the community safe from alcohol related incidents.
In a press release, Sheriff Chad Jensen said, “I hope everyone has a great weekend! Please think about other people’s lives by choosing not to drink and drive.”
In 2015, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 10,265 people died in drunk driving crashes. The drivers involved in 67 percent of those crashes had a blood alcohol content of .15 or higher (nearly twice the legal limit of .08).
Jensen said if people choose to drink this weekend, please have a designated driver or take a cab.
