CAPSA wins state-of-the-art security system

The public is invited to a celebration event where Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse (CAPSA) will be receiving a state-of-the-art security system. The event will be held on Tuesday, February 28 according to CAPSA Development Director James Boyd.

Boyd says the event will be held outside if weather permits. He says there is a great deal of excitement about it at CAPSA.

“This system is actually very important right now,” Boyd explains. “We are doing our addition, our therapy center and children center, and we found out our security system we have in our existing building couldn’t be expanded.

“We’ve been looking at buying a new system anyways. This came at the perfect time. On February 28th at 9:30 a.m. at the Historic Courthouse, we will be celebrating and receiving an award for this security system, valued at over $10,000.”

Boyd says CAPSA was one of three finalists for the new security system from Security 101 and Axis Communications, with the other two non-profits based out of Salt Lake City. He says through an online voting process CAPSA received an outpouring of local support by receiving over 60% of the votes.

Boyd says domestic violence is very scary and dangerous and the leaders are always concerned about the safety of their clients, volunteers and employees. Because of the community support, Boyd says, the security system will make CAPSA safer.

Boyd says another exciting event is coming up later that week, and that will be at the Beaver Mountain Ski Resort on Saturday, March 4th.

“Beaver Mountain is holding a Rail Jam for CAPSA as a fundraiser,” he explains. “People can come up on skis or snowboards, do tricks on rails. The entry is $15 and 100% of the proceeds go to CAPSA.

“We are fortunate to have Beaver Mountain do this fundraiser for us but we’ve also had CV Lawn King as well as Rescue One Studios step up to be title sponsors and help us raise more money for this event.”

Boyd says registration for the event will be the morning of Saturday, March 4th and the Rail Jam will begin at 11 a.m. He says anyone can come up and watch the fun for free.
