Nine months in the making, the Cache Valley Hospital’s new Women’s Center is making its public debut Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The community open house will feature personal tours, giveaways and a chance to win must-have newborn items.
Hospital CEO John Worley describes the 9,000 square foot center as a state-of-the-art facility with deluxe accommodations for expecting moms and dads and their newborns. He said the hospital’s team of experienced maternity care specialists will begin delivering babies in the spacious 400 square foot birthing suites beginning March 1.
“They’re the largest rooms in the state,” he said, “and we’re excited to have them here.”
During a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Monday morning, Worley invited the community to come take a look.
“We have six LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) units,” Worley said, “which means mom and baby will start and finish in the same room, and baby will room in with mom. [There’s a] great Level II care nursery for folks, for babies, so we’ll have the same level of care that can be provided in other places in the community, and we’re looking forward to getting started.”
Cache Valley Hospital Women’s Services are directed by Christie Gaz. Under her leadership, Worley said, women can expect one-on-one nursing care as they labor and deliver their babies. He hopes tonight’s open house will be well-attended.
“We hope to get a lot of people here,” he said.“I think when they come in and see it, they’ll see what we have to offer as far as the opportunity. We really tried to make it a very comfortable and yet very quality experience for our patients.”
Amenities included during each family’s LDRP experience include a jetted tub available during labor, iPod docking stations and Blu-ray players, a flat-screen television in each suite and glider rockers. Prior to leaving the hospital, parents will enjoy a photo session with their newborns and will take home a handcrafted footprint keepsake and a complimentary diaper bag.
