Students in the art department at Fast Forward Charter High School will perform for the public Tuesday evening in a talent showcase at the Utah Theatre. The performance, entitled “Fast Forward on Tour,” begins at 7 p.m. and features student bands, short films and live art, including dance, projected art and a fashion show.

“It’s a multimedia show,” explained Andy Worrall, Fast Forward’s art teacher. “It’s been guided by the teachers, but it’s all been put on by the students.”

Every six weeks throughout the school year Fast Forward’s art, music and video production students share their talents with their peers. Worrall said tonight’s performance is a culmination of those efforts and is designed to give students the opportunity to perform in a professional theater in front of a larger audience.

“We’re trying to fill the theater,” said Worrall. “There’s 320 seats, so we’re just trying to get as many community people as we can there. It’s to expose the awesomeness of the students at Fast Forward into the community and just show people the quality of the learning and education at Fast Forward.”

The mission of Fast Forward Charter High School is “to provide a safe and nurturing environment where students who may be at risk of not completing high school requirements can be challenged with curriculum presented to accommodate their unique learning styles.” Jill Lowe is the school’s principal-director. The art department’s faculty is comprised of Andy Worrall (art), Ryan Conger (music) and Andy Lorimer (video production).

Tickets for “Fast Forward on Tour” are $5/person, with current Fast Forward students being admitted free of charge. The Utah Theatre is located at 18 W. Center Street in Logan.
