LOGAN, Utah – Utah State Athletics announced on Tuesday afternoon kickoff times for the remainder of its 2017 home football schedule.
Utah State’s home opener against Idaho State on Thursday, Sept. 6, will kick off at 6 p.m., while its three Mountain West home games against Colorado State on Saturday, Oct. 7, Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 14, and Hawai’i on Saturday, Nov. 18, will all be afternoon kickoffs.
Furthermore, Utah State also announced that its annual Homecoming game will be against Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Exact kickoff times for the three Mountain West home games listed above will be announced at a later date.
“We are excited about the opportunity to play afternoon home games during the majority of our 2017 Mountain West home football schedule,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hartwell. “We have heard the feedback from our fan base and are thrilled that three important conference games will be played on Saturday afternoons.”
Utah State begins the 2017 season at Wisconsin on Friday, Sept. 1, in a game that will be nationally televised on either ESPN or FOX Sports. Following its home opener against Idaho State, USU plays at Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 16, and then begins Mountain West play at San José State on Saturday, Sept. 23.
Utah State then returns home for three-straight weeks as it hosts BYU on Friday, Sept. 29, in a game that will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network at 6 p.m., followed by home games against Colorado State and Wyoming the next two Saturdays.
Utah State’s only road game during the month of October will be the following weekend at UNLV on Saturday, Oct. 21, before returning home to host Boise State on Saturday, Oct. 28, in a game that will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network at 8 p.m. Following its home game against the Broncos, USU plays at New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Utah State’s bye week will occur during the second Saturday in November, prior to its final two games of the regular season as it hosts Hawai’i on Saturday, Nov. 18, and concludes conference play and the regular season at Air Force on Saturday, Nov. 25, in a game that will be televised by one of the ESPN networks.
Kickoff times for all remaining games will be announced at a later date.
Additional 2017 broadcasts by ROOT Sports, the Mountain West Network on Campus Insiders and OC Sports (Hawai’i) will be announced in the coming months.
Overall, Utah State will face nine teams who played in bowl games in 2017 as five of USU’s 2017 opponents recorded at least nine wins a year ago, while nine of its opponents had at least seven victories.
The 2017 schedule will play out over 14 weeks, concluding on Saturday, Dec. 2, with the Mountain West Football Championship Game to be played at the home stadium of the highest-ranked of the two divisional champions.
The 2017 Mountain West football membership includes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming in the Mountain Division and Fresno State, Hawai’i, Nevada, San Diego State, San José State and UNLV in the West Division.
