Hyde Park man dies in vehicle rollover in central Utah

Sheriff’s deputies report a Hyde Park man, who was employed with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, died Tuesday afternoon in a single vehicle rollover accident in central Utah.

Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis said Jared L. Baker was driving a Utah DNR truck on State St. in Sigurd. Witnesses told deputies, the truck was traveling northbound when it went off the east side of the road, overcorrected and rolled. The truck landed on its top.

Paramedics and fire fighters had to extricate Baker from the truck. Despite their efforts, the 31-year-old died from significant injuries sustained in the crash.

Curtis reports the accident occurred at 2:40 p.m. Baker’s identity was withheld until his family could be notified.

Deputies said Baker was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
