Coyote Fire starts in Box Elder County after lightning strike

Fire crews in Box Elder County spent the weekend fighting a wildfire burning in Rosebud, south of Park Valley. The Coyote Fire is believed to have started from a lightning strike Saturday afternoon.

Public Information Officer for the county, Mitch Zundel said Sunday night that the fire had burned around 300 acres. Crews report it is approximately 50% contained.

40 fire fighters from county, state and federal agencies have been working to extinguish the blaze. They are mopping up hot spots and securing a bulldozer line around the fire.
