Theater and arts organizations have significant economic impact to Logan City

From now on you can call Logan an, “Historic Theater District”. Wendy Hassan, executive director of the Cache Valley Center for the Arts, made a formal request to the Logan City Council last month that a portion of the city be given that designation.

She said there are several theaters, and other parts of Logan, where arts of every kind can be enjoyed. Hassan told the council Tuesday that a study has now been done that shows just what the arts actually contribute.

“We now know that…the economic impact of the seven theaters in Logan City,” Hassan explained, “and the 24 arts organizations that provided financial information is $31.47 million a year.

“$13.8 million of that is the incidental spending that the audiences contribute, not counting their admissions. $17.6 million is what we as arts organizations contribute.”

She said the study showed that the arts are reaching every segment of the population on every income level.
