LOGAN – Another Aggie football player has been named to an award watch list, <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/sports/article_e39df0e6-6cc9-11e7-9f4c-07ca2fa034af.html” target=”_blank”>joining teammates Kent Myers, Dallin Leavitt, Dax Raymond and Jontrell Rocquemore</a>. When the Doak Walker Award Watch List was released Thursday morning, Tonny Lindsey was among the 51 running backs recognized.
Lindsey, a senior, played in all 12 games last season, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. According to the university’s athletic department, his 763 yards and 148 carries in 2016 led the team. He joined Utah State in 2014 after transferring from California’s Cerritos Junior College, then redshirted his first year in Logan. He played in nine games during the 2015 season.
The Doak Walker award is given annually to the nation’s top running back. The award’s 10 semifinalists will be named in November, and the winner will be announced Thursday, Dec. 7.
