After playing with teams in Lithuania, Spain, and most recently France, former Utah State basketball player Spencer Butterfield is headed to Germany. His new team, Alba Berlin, one of the most popular basketball teams in Europe, made the announcement Tuesday.

Spencer Butterfield took to social media to make his own announcement a day earlier.
“Germany here we come! We just inked with Alba Berlin. Excited for our next adventure in a new country with a great organization and club”, he wrote.

Butterfield was most recently playing basketball with the Utah Jazz’s Summer League team. With his team in France, Nanterre, he averaged 12.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He set a FIBA Europe Cup record when he made 11 3-pointers in a single game. His 39 total points that game tied the Europe Cup record.

Butterfield told CacheValleyDaily.com earlier this month that he has been able to see a lot of old Aggie teammates while playing basketball abroad.
“There are Aggies all of over the world,” he said. “I love it. There is always a way to connect with former players and alumni in some way. That’s the greatest part about playing basketball.

“I’ve seen Jaycee (Carroll). I still keep in contact with Danny Berger and Sean Harris, I’ve seen them out there. Preston Medlin, I saw him a little bit this last year. They’re kind of everywhere. I ran into Gary Wilkinson out in Paris one time.”
