One by one Cache County officials have removed the old buildings and historic keepsakes from the 100-year-old-plus county fairgrounds buildings to make room for a new events center.
Cache County Executive Craig Buttars says work has already started on the new special events center.
“We do have the final bid back, which came in a little bit above what our budget was,” Buttars told the council on Tuesday. “We’ll have to work on that funding. Hopefully, we will still be able to find some areas where we can make some cuts. It looks like we will be at $6.73 million. The budget the council approved was $6.4 million.”
Council members are hoping the new construction will be completed in time for the 2018 county fair.
