Search and rescue crews called to help stranded motorists on Mount Logan

LOGAN — Cache County Search and Rescue crews were called out to help find a group of people who had been stuck on top of Mount Logan for several days.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke said the group had gotten their truck stuck near the radio towers and spent several days trying to get out. They had also attempted to call a wrecker for help but hadn’t been able to find anyone because of the snowy conditions.

An older member of the group had been without his medication for several days, prompting the group to call 911 Monday afternoon.

Search and rescue teams were able to travel up Providence Canyon and Right Hand Fork Canyon to get to the group. They were found in okay condition and transported back to Logan.

Deputies notified the U.S. Forrest Service regarding the location of the truck.

Locke explained the rescue is a reminder that snowy conditions have hit the upper elevations. Dirt roads are snow covered and should not be traveled on until they dry out.

Locke said the group may be cited by the forest service upon completion of an investigation.
