City council candidate talks air quality, library

LOGAN – He’s met a lot of new people, heard a great many views and all-in-all, Paul Rogers has been enjoying his campaign for a seat on the Logan Municipal Council. He is one of four individuals attempting to replace two outgoing council members – Holly Daines, who is running for Logan mayor and Eugene Needham, who is stepping down from his council seat.

Asked if he had many surprises, Rogers said he was pleased and surprised to learn a lot of people are concerned about clean air and believe the city should do more to improve the quality.

He said a sizable number of people also mentioned a library. Rogers favors that idea and was asked where he feels it should be.

“I thought the Emporium site, if it was completely rebuilt, would be a good place for the library,” he said. “But I’m also, now, picking up some of my own enthusiasm for what is called the ‘V1 site’ over there by Logan High School. The important thing to me is that we make it accessible, walkable and within easy range of downtown so that people might come to the library with their kids and then go out to lunch or something else.”

CacheValleyDaily.com will have comments from other candidates prior to the November election.
