North Logan mayoral candidates focus on city’s future

NORTH LOGAN –Nancy Potter and John Bailey are both on the North Logan City Council, and are both looking to the future of the city as the two compete for the office of mayor.

Potter said she has become well-acquainted with the city, its strengths and needs. She said she believes she is well-prepared for the important position.

She said a new city center will be coming forward over the next four years and feels she has the knowledge and work ethic to make it work. She said the new city center will be able to bring city residents together.

“We have a lot of development that we are looking at that are going to have businesses on the bottom and living in the apartments up above, so they can live and work and also enjoy the area all in one spot,” she said. “It’s going to be very walkable and a great environment down in that area. It will be a place for all residents to come and enjoy.”

Bailey said he is running because he feels North Logan is a wonderful city and that he would like to do his part in not just keeping it that way, but making it even better.

He said there are all kinds of great possibilities for dealing with the city’s growth and that there are many great people in North Logan to make good things happen.

“North Logan is going to grow inevitably, and I want to make sure we do that by design and not by default,” he said, “so that we get out ahead with wise planning and zoning policies, land use policies, address the needs of all different income levels and make sure we provide adequately for all of the citizens that would like to make North Logan home.”

Bailey said it has been exciting to run for mayor and that he is pleased it has not been an adversarial campaign.
