Program grants wishes for aging seniors

The Senior Wish program benefit dinner and auction is Saturday, November 4th at the Coppermill restaurant, 2427 North Main in Logan. Coordinator Mary Gardner, patient care coordinator for the organization, says the proceeds go to a program where Community Nursing Services tries to provide a senior wish to every hospice or home health patient who requests it.

Gardner says the people and families that have been served have turned out to have beautiful experiences. Recently, one man’s senior wish was to ride in an airplane around the valley and once again visit the areas where he grew up and where he enjoyed things like hunting and fishing.

“A son and a daughter and a granddaughter went with him. They had enough room for that,” describes Gardner. “He came back with tears in his eyes and said, ‘I just never thought I could ever see this beautiful valley as a place where I grew up and where I hunted and camped.’

“I think he passed away a couple of weeks later.”
