It’s the Weekend 11/16/17

The weekend is upon us and this is your guide to everything going on in Cache Valley.

Get your weekend started with a fashion show. The Fashion Merchandising and Development students at Bridgerland Technical College present <a href=”” target=”_blank”>“Fashion: State of Emergency”</a> Thursday and Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are just $5 and there will be refreshments.

Bring your little turkeys to Stokes Nature Center for a Thanksgiving-themed music and movement program Friday at 2 p.m. At <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Wild Wiggles! Thanksgiving Music and Movement</a> children will be learning to use instruments and free movement to perform a turkey dance.

St. John’s Episcopal Church is hosting a <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Holiday Gift Show</a> this Friday and Saturday. It features local artists and it’s a great way to find something unique for holiday giving.

Do you want to see cool science in action? Inquiring minds of all ages should attend the USU Physics Department <a href=”” target=”_blank”>10th annual demo show</a> Friday at 7 p.m. There will be lots of exciting and LOUD physics demonstrations. Admission is free and it will be held in the Emmert Auditorium at the Eccles Science Learning Center at Utah State University.

Logan High School presents Rogers and Hammerstein’s <a href=”” target=”_blank”>“Cinderella”</a>. Performances of this enchanting musical are Friday and Saturday, then next Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.

A few other musical performances to choose from Friday evening, both at USU. A <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>String Chamber music recital</a>, presented by the USU Department of Music, will be at the Caine Performance Hall beginning at 7:30.

And across the way at the Daines Concert Hall at the same time will be the <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>Sounds of the Stadium</a>. It features the music of the USU Marching Band season.

We’ll be eating a lot of turkey next week, but a lot of turkeys will be on the run this Saturday at the annual <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>Turkey Trot Fun Run</a> in Smithfield. Races begin and end at the Smithfield Rec Center with 1 mile, 5k, and 10k courses available.

The <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>Utah State Aggies</a> are back in action this Saturday as they host the University of Hawaii. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. It’s a special, military appreciation game and the last home football game of the season for the Aggies.

The <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Cache Symphony</a> is performing in the beautifully-remodeled Daines Concert Hall Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. They will be presenting Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis and Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 in D minor. General admission tickets are only $10.

The USU Department of Theatre Arts presents a staged reading of <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”><em>Not A Test</em></a>, a new play by Anne Negri. The performance is part of the 2017-2018 Visiting Artists &amp; Scholars Series. The play is free and open to the public at the Block Box Theatre in the Chase Fine Arts Center.

Stock up for the holidays and support anti-human trafficking at the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Malouf Foundation Warehouse Sale</a> on Friday and Saturday. Ten percent of all proceeds benefit the Malouf Foundation which is working to end human trafficking.
