Line already forming for USU vs BYU basketball game Saturday

LOGAN – The Utah State vs BYU basketball game isn’t until Saturday night at 7 p.m., but some Aggie students are already showing up at the Spectrum in hopes of securing the best seats. USU student Thomas Lee arrived at the east doors Thursday, but said he had friends who started camping out Wednesday night, more than 72 hours before tipoff.

Lee’s group of five is first in line, and as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday they were the only ones in line, but he expects more to join soon.

“It’s just fun, man,” he said. “We’re excited to play BYU. We’ve got to get the seats closest to the bench so we can yell at them. That is pretty much the point of it.”

The group is taking shifts, friends hold each other’s spots while others go to class.

Lee said his group initially set up tents but were then asked to take them down. He said he isn’t sure the reason. In the past, USU’s student section, The Hurd, has organized camping spots on the Quad or inside the Wayne Estes Center.
