The holiday season is a happy time for a lot of people, but Dr. Ed Redd says Christmas can be a problem time for others.
Dr. Redd is the Deputy Director and medical officer of the Bear River Health Department. He says some people are sad this time of year because they are alone or don’t feel part of a group that is having a celebration.
Dr. Redd suggests you reach out and see if there is some way you can help the individual, and let them know that there is someone who cares.
“Make sure that if alcohol is being consumed,” Dr. Redd explains, “that there is someone who hasn’t consumed alcohol who can drive you home, or call a taxi, Uber or whatever available resources we have here in Cache Valley.
“The second thing, if somebody looks like they’re having a hard time or seem kind of sad, reach out to them, talk to them and help them get some help if they need some help.”
Dr. Redd says it is important to celebrate holidays without getting hurt.
