Webb retiring from state legislature, reflects on service

LOGAN – He’s looking forward to retiring after serving almost 13 years in the Utah Legislature, but Republican state representative Curt Webb said he has greatly enjoyed the experience.

“I will be turning 69 and I’ve got grandkids,” he said. “I also think my Michelle and I have a few adventures left in us.”

His district does not include Bear Lake, but said some of his most interesting issues included the lake and the invasive Quagga mussel.

“Even though it’s not in my district, some of my Cache Valley constituents use it, own property over there and recreate there,” he said. “It would just be a shame to have its pristine beauty ruined by an invasive species.”

Webb said it was important to him to protect that body of water and was pleased when Utah approved some of the programs Idaho already had in place.

In addition to retiring as the District 5 representative, Webb recently retired from his position at Cache Title. There will be two open seats in the Fall, as District 4’s Ed Redd recently announced his retirement as well.
