TUCSON, Ariz. – Utah State’s schedule on Tuesday was strictly football as the team spent the morning in meetings and the afternoon on the practice field during its first full day in Tucson.
The Aggies are in town for the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, which will be played on Friday, Dec. 29 at 3:30 p.m. (MT), against New Mexico State and televised nationally on CBS Sports Network (Comcast Ch. 269/753HD, Dish Network Ch. 158, DirecTV Ch. 221).
“Today’s practice was our most physical of the week and we needed that,” said USU head coach Matt Wells. “The speed of the game on Friday will be fast and it will be important for us to be physical and aggressive early on in the contest.”
As for the game against New Mexico State, don’t expect Utah State to deviate from what they have done on offense this season.
“We are going to keep the same game plan we have used all year, which is playing fast and keeping our tempo up,” said redshirt freshman quarterback Jordan Love.
Following practice on Tuesday, the team had the rest of the night to themselves as they enjoyed various activities in downtown Tucson.
Utah State will continue bowl preparations on Wednesday with breakfast and meetings beginning at 8 a.m. Select players will then join the Aggie cheer squad for a charity visit at the Diamond Children’s Center within the University of Tucson Medical Center. The team will then hold its third practice of the week in Tucson at the Kino Sports Complex from 12:15-2:00 p.m. USU will then close the evening by joining the New Mexico State players for a team dinner at the Old Tucson Studios.
