Eugene Needham III has attended his last meeting as a council member since his term expires at the end of the year. Needham says he has greatly enjoyed his four years on the council, and appreciates the other council members, Logan Mayor Craig Petersen, city employees and the public in general.
A lot of different issues came up during the last four years and Needham says he feels the council worked hard to do what was best for the city. Sometimes members differed on solutions and one example is the issue of a new library.
Needham is the one member of the council who does not believe it is necessary.
“I still feel that the library should stay where it is and the $6 million that it needs, to be fully refurbished, be spent,” says Needham. “But I’m the only one there on the council. Not too many people express that thought in the city.
“Outside I understand there are quite a number of people who don’t see anything particularly wrong with our library. It is certainly the right size. If it needs to be redirected, or restructured, that’s something else.”
Needham says the city needs to do more about housing because the population is growing and he feels we could run out of places to live. He has encouraged more restoration of houses in the city.
