LOGAN — Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help locating a former 23-year-old North Logan man who ran away from jail last week. Trevor D. Shepherd was on work release and failed to return to the jail Friday night.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office posted a wanted poster for Shepherd on its Facebook page Monday afternoon. They asked for anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact deputies.

Court records show, Shepherd was charged in February 2016 with possession of a firearm by a restricted person, drug possession and failing to stop at the command of law enforcement. Four months later, he was admitted into Drug Court, a rehabilitation program that is supervised by a judge. He pleaded guilty as part of an agreement that his plea would be held in abeyance, if he successfully completed drug court.

During the past two years, Shepherd was in and out of jail several times for failing to comply with the terms of his probation. Three months ago, he was sentenced to one-year in jail but granted work release. This allowed him to leave jail during the day, so he could seek employment, and return each night.

On Monday, Judge Thomas Willmore issued a warrant for Shepherd’s arrest.
