Mayor Daines establishing neighborhood councils

LOGAN – One of the priorities for new mayor Holly Daines is reinstituting the neighborhood councils she often talked about during her campaign.

Now she is ready to start and Daines is hoping a lot of the residents feel the same way.

“I think it is a great way for us as a city to hear what the neighbors have to say,” Daines said, “what our citizens have to say about the concerns they have about their neighborhood. Whether it be overoccupancy, property maintenance or streets and sidewalks. And again, if we have ideas I hope to be able to bring our ideas to them and get their feedback.”

Daines said an initial planning meeting has been scheduled for each of the neighborhoods and each will be held in the Northwest Conference Room in Logan City Hall at 290 N 100 West. The first meeting is for the Ellis neighborhood and is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. Daines said the groups can set up whatever schedule they prefer with help from the elected chairperson.

Daines would like those who are interested but cannot attend the first meeting to let her know. Those who would like to attend can email her at [email protected].
