The Nation’s Weather for Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Ahead of a storm system over the Central states, warm air

will be pumped northward across the East tomorrow. Afternoon

temperatures will soar up to 30-35 degrees Fahrenheit above

late February normals following areas of morning fog. The

leading edge of warm air will be marked by rain across

upstate New York and an icy mix in northern New England.

Meanwhile, a swath of heavy rain is forecast to stretch from

Texas through the mid-Mississippi Valley and central Great

Lakes, triggering localized flooding. Severe storms could

rumble across east-central Texas. On the colder side of the

storm, snow and an icy mix will cause treacherous travel

over the northern Plains and Upper Midwest. Residents of the

West can expect a dry, but unseasonably cold day. A bit of

snow will dot the central Rockies.
