It’s the Weekend – Feb. 22, 2018

This weekend features live jazz, a Monster of a concert, multiple musicals and even a Dry Tri, and we’ve got all the details.

<a href=”” target=”_blank”>Jazz Night at Elite Hall</a> is this weekend in Hyrum. Everyone young and old is invited to come support two great causes: The Larry Smith Jazz Scholarship and the Elite Hall Restoration. The USU Big Bands will perform Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Thursday is Student Night, while Friday and Saturday night you have the option of a catered dinner and dancing. Each night lessons begin at 6 p.m.

It’s another weekend filled with musical theater. Mountain Crest High School presents <a href=”” target=”_blank”>“The Secret Garden”</a>; Ridgeline High School presents <a href=”″ target=”_blank”>“Jane Eyre – the Musical”</a>; and, the USU Music Department presents <a href=”;presenter=CAINE&amp;venue=&amp;event=&amp;version” target=”_blank”>“Once Upon a Mattress”</a> in the Morgan Theater. The high school musicals run Thursday through Monday, starting at 7 p.m., while “Once Upon a Mattress” is Friday, Saturday and all next week with performances starting at 7:30 p.m.

The <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Fly Fishing Film Tour</a> visits Logan on Friday at Mount Logan Middle School. Doors open at 5 and the show starts at 6 p.m. and there will be door prizes.

Ride, row and run your way through the first annual <a href=”;semesterId=81400285-6bb0-4774-8598-5f22867660c0″ target=”_blank”>Dry Tri</a>, 8 a.m. Saturday morning at the USU Aggie Recreation Center. Swap out goggles and swim caps for rowing machines and stationary bikes. Come alone, or bring friends and compete as a relay team.

If you’re in the Olympic spirit, race in the <a href=”–events/latest-news/harold-seeholzer-memorial-cup-race” target=”_blank”>Harold Seeholzer Memorial Cup Race</a> at Beaver Mountain. This fun race honors the founder and father of Beaver Mountain. Registration is 8:45-9:45 a.m. in the lodge.

Enjoy live entertainment and unlimited chili (while supplies last) at the 11th annual <a href=”” target=”_blank”>USU College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Chili Cook-off</a>. It starts at 5 p.m. at The Junction (1020 East 750 North in Logan), and wear your best Superhero costume when you come.

Like live music? Want to <a href=”” target=”_blank”>help out the Cache Community Food Pantry</a>? Head to the historic Richmond City Theater Saturday night at 7. Bring a non-perishable food item with you and watch Wood Live Music perform.

Ten pianos, one monster and over 200 students and teachers will perform together at the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>USU Youth Conservatory Monster Concert</a> this Saturday at 6 p.m. Dozens of piano students perform together – at the same time – on the stage of the Daines Concert Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Center.

Complete your weekend with a <a href=”” target=”_blank”>choral meditation for Lent</a>. St. John’s Episcopal Church will hold a special Sunday evening musical service at 7:30 p.m. featuring the USU Choral Scholars.
